Versatile actor Ompuri passes away in Mumbai after suffering a massive heart attack. He was 66 years old. Ompuri had done films in different Indian languages ,He gave countless performances in movies of diverse  genres.

Ompuri was born to a Punjabi family  in Haryana's Ambalaon October 18th in 1950.He finished his graduation from Pune's Film and Television Institute of India. Mr. Puri enterd the Film Industry with the Marathi movie 'Ghasiram Kotwal'  in 1976. Ompuri won the National award for 'Aarohan' in 1982 and 'Arth Sathya' in 1984. Both were for the Best actor. He was awarded the 'Padmasri' by the Government of India in 1990. Ompuri won 8 times Film fare award.

“He passed away this morning due to a massive heart attack at his residence in suburban Andheri. It’s shocking,” a family source said.

Ompuri not only acted in numerous Indian languages but also gained fame in Hollywood, Independent and art films. Mr.Ompuri also acted in Pakistani films and won many accolades there.

Prim Minister Narendra Modi tweeted and condoled the  the demise of great actor and recalled his long career and in theatre and films. Other prominent personalities took to social media and paid tributes to Ompuri and cherished the long relation with him.
