Though Bollywood is known for its craze for biopics and historical dramas, with every year witnessing the release of at least 5-10 biopics of cricketers, stars or political leaders, Tollywood has slowly taken its baby steps towards dishing out biopics of renown people as well, starting this year.
While it started with Mahanati, the biopic of legendary actress Savithri starring Keerthy Suresh and Samantha, with the former playing the title role, it was followed by Nandamuri Balakrishna, who decided to make the Biopic of his dad, the legendary actor and former CM of Andhra Pradesh Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao, directed by Maverick maker Teja. Made in a budget of 60 crores, the film is bankrolled by CCL's Vijay Induri, Sai Korrapati and Balaiya himself.
Though the film was scheduled to go on floors next month, since Balaiya is recuperating from a shoulder surgery, the film's shooting has been pushed to August, before which Teja will complete his movie with Victory Venkatesh, and NTR is planned to be wrapped up by 2018 end, and is planned as a Sankranthi 2019 Release.
While in the past, NBK has successful Sankranthi delivering blockbusters, of late, he has once again revived his Sankranthi success luck with Gautamiputra Satakarni and Jai Simha this year. Let's see if NTR will extend his Sankranthi victory march, and end up a huge and memorable blockbuster.
