Finally a Feather in a cap for Team India Football team which was evaporating due to poor infrastructural facilities dealt to the game , won the Intercontinental Football Cup-2018 defeating Kenya by 2-0 in the finals with brilliance of Skipper Sunil Chetri. The Other teams associated with the Tournament were Chinese Taipei, New Zealand.
The Crowds thronged to the grounds mainly due to last minute appeal by Skipper Sunil Chetri who pleaded fans to watch and elevate the fame of football in India , and not to forget few celebrities including Cricket God Sachin Tendulkar , Skipper of Indian Cricket team Virat Kohli , Ace Tennis Sensation Sania Mirza whose appeal to fans to come in large numbers to promote and encourage Indian football team and appreciate their each move yielded fruitful results.
As Social Media Promotions reached fans , they came in large numbers to witness all matches of Intercontinental Cup -18 the home team played and cheered their favorite players in giving a real boost to them.
Skipper Sunil Chetris 8 hits at the target in all of 11 Indian Goals in International Cup-2018 is a special feat becoming the joint second highest international goal scorer among active players along with Argentine superstar Lionel Messi with his 64th strike for the country against Kenya in the Intercontinental Cup .
But the Media focus was not upto the Standard of elevating Cricket, it was few minutes space reserved for Indian Footballs Achievement at Inter-continental cup in all channels , the Sponsors were poor citing the commercial gains from the game. Indian Foot ball Federation can promote the game largely only by inviting Sponsors, by advertising in Print and Electronic media often.
And in return even Sponsors come in large to support towards upliftment of the game and Nations pride rather looking for returns on it, and fans come in large numbers on their own and not expect Sports Celebrities make an appeal on Social Media Platforms.
