AMT Technology intro helps Tata Tiago to stand steady

New Delhi sources have stated that Home grown automobile manufacturer Tata Motors is planning to offer Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) technology in Tiago. As per reports, the AMT version is found testing near Pune Plant. Meanwhile the introduction of AMT technology will help Tiago to stand better in front of competitors like Celerio AMT and Grand i10 AT.
Currently, the car maker is offering AMT technology in its compact sedan Zest only. The automaker has already hit the sweet spot with the small hatchback Tiago. The company outsold Mahindra & Mahindra in November 2016 on back of Tiago sales. Tata Tiago which comes in both petrol and diesel variants has been able to attract the audience with its bold design and smart features. The petrol variant is powered by 1.2-litre 85 PS motor with a peak torque of 114Nm. Tata Tiago's diesel variant is powered by 1.05-litre Revotorq motor that churns out 70 PS of power and 140Nm of torque.
Going further, the company plans to launch Hexa next month. The Hexa is expected to be priced between Rs 12 lakh to Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). According to sales data received from industry sources, Tata Motors sold 12,736 units in November compared with 12,707 units sold by Mahindra & Mahindra in the same period. Tiago contributed 47 percent of the sales with 6,008 units and also broke into the top 10 cars sold in India.
