Bottom Line: Do yourself a favour, go to cinemas and DON'T MISS IT!
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is releasing Worldwide on 29th of this month. However, the Premiere shows were completed in Los Angeles, CA. One of our APHERALD Editors watched it in Archlight Hollywood and we bring the Exclusive Review of the movie.
Most of us would know the plotline as we would have seen the earlier version of Robin Williams's 'Jumanji' (1995). Here in this new adventure, 4 High School Kids who are in detention find an Old Video Game console and to kill time they start playing it. However, they are drawn into the game and they enter the real Jungle settings.
They also turn into the Adult avatars they chose in the game. It's all about surviving in the Video game and to get back from teh game, they need to complete it. So they face some of the most dangerous adventures of their lives. Failing to do so, they will be stuck in the game forever and ever.
The movie revolves around four main characters, Karen Gillan as Ruby Roundhouse, Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) as Dr.Smolder Bravestone, Jack Black as Professor Shelly Oberon and Kevin Hart as Moose Finbar. The casting itself is chosen in the right manner where Jack Black and Kevin Hart bring the roofs down. Madison Iseman does the role of Bethany and she is totally addicted towards Instagram. But she transforms to a middle aged professor (Jack Black) and we have hearty laughter totally.
Dwayne Johnson is too perfect and he leads the film as the big hero. He is the soul and heart of the movie. Karen Gillan does a nebula once again where she performs the bad-ass character. All the actors pretend to be kids and that is even more charming to watch. The rest of the characters are also effing perfect and they have done justice to their roles.
For us the movie itself is a great concept and they have modernized it by changing it from a board game to a video game. Just like Dwayne Johnson said, the movie is a tribute to the predecessor and the Magic, Mayhem and CGI are 3x times better than the original. The movie entertains you from start to end with frequent jokes.
Most of the movie moves in structures as they need to complete the game level-by-level. Kudos to screenplay writers who made it interesting. Henry Jackman's music is captivating and Cinematography by Gyula Pados deserves a special mention. Owen Paterson's Production design and Steve Cooper/Hugo Santiago's Art direction deserves a standing ovation.
Visual Effects, Special Effects, Sound department have came together and they made the movie tlook more real. On the whole, the entire technical team has toiled hard to give their best and it is obvious on the screen.
All said, This is a movie for all ages. The movie provides entertainment from the start till the end. The running time of the movie is 119 minutes and when the movie ends it just makes you feel, why not some more time? The CGI work is remarkable and the casting is effing perfect.
All the lead characters have proved their mettle and they have done a meaty job. The movie has tons of adventure to cherish and love about. Among the actors, Jack Black provides as many laughs as possible. Director Jake Kasdan has crafted the perfect movie for the Christmas season. In short, this movie is like 'Indiana Jones' meets 'Wreck-It-Ralph'.
